Yujie Wang

Yujie Wang, viola (Guangzhou, China) began studying with her mother when she was three years old. Between 2013 and 2019, she studied under Donglei Hou. She was admitted to the 20th Morningside Music Bridge with a full scholarship in 2015, and in the same year won first place in the junior group of the Guangdong Viola Competition. Yujie attended the Sierra Academy of Music in Los Angeles twice between 2016 and 2017, and in 2017 she was also admitted to the Bravo Music Festival. At the International Competition of Russian Young Musicians in 2018, Yujie took home second place, and in 2019, she was admitted with a full scholarship to the Royal Birmingham Conservatory to study under Louise Lansdown. At the 2020 Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition, Yujie reached the quarter finals. She was admitted to the NYSO in 2021 with a full scholarship, where she led the viola section, and she was a finalist for the BPO Concerto prize in 2022. Yujie has taken part in masterclasses led by Robert Diaz, Thomas Ribel, Garth Knox, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Steven Tenenbom, Teng Li, Jaime Amador, Li Sheng, and Shaowu Wang.
