Seth Knopp, Artistic Director, was a founding member of the Peabody Trio, recipient of the 1989 Naumburg Award, and has been the Artistic Director of Yellow Barn since 1998. During his tenure Yellow Barn has twice received the ASCAP/Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous Programming. He is also the Artistic Director of Soundings: New Music at the Nasher, a critically acclaimed series of concerts at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas. His solo and chamber music performances can be heard on the Artek, Koch, and New World Records labels. Catherine Stephan, Executive Director, started this phase of her Yellow Barn life in 2010. Formerly a cellist and student of David Wells, she spent three summers at Yellow Barn in the mid-90s. Before returning to Putney she was Executive Director of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and its record label, BMOP/sound, from 2000-2010. She has been a guest lecturer at New England Conservatory, Boston University, and UCLA, serves as a consultant for individual artists and ensembles, and has been a panelist for the Aaron Copland Fund for Music.
