Terry Sweeney

Terry Sweeney, percussion (Lake Orion, MI), is a member of Sandbox Percussion, Quaquaqua, and HOWL. As a member of Sandbox Percussion, Terry has performed over eighty concerts across the United States and has given masterclasses at the Curtis Institute of Music, the University of Southern California, the San Francisco Conservatory, the Peabody Conservatory, and more. In the spring of 2017, Sandbox made their concerto debut at EMPAC, performing Veit Cuong's Re(new)al with the Albany Symphony's Dogs of Desire. Terry has collaborated with composers Amy Beth Kirsten, Andy Akiho, John Luther Adams, Thomas Kotcheff, Jörg Widmann, Jason Eckardt, Francois Sarhan, and David Crowell. His past season included over twenty world premieres. Terry holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the Yale School of Music, where he studied with Robert van Sice. Terry endorses Vic Firth sticks and mallets, Remo drumheads, and Pearl/Adams Musical instruments. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2015)
