Mizuki Hayakawa

Mizuki Hayakawa, cello (Scarsdale, NY), is a senior at Edgemont High School and studies with Natasha Brofsky in the Juilliard School Pre-College Division. Previously, she studied with Nicole Johnson at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School. She has won competitions as a soloist and chamber musician, and has performed in Weill Hall, Stern/Perelman Auditorium in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Ozawa Hall, and at the Koussevitzky shed at Tanglewood. She has participated in the Kinhaven Music School, Greenwood Music Camp, and the String Quartet and Young Artist Orchestra programs at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. She has been principal cellist for the Juilliard pre-college symphony, BUTI orchestra, and NYSSMA All-State. She has collaborated with members of the Shanghai and Vermeer Quartets, as well as Daniel Phillips and members of the BSO. Mizuki has performed in masterclasses with Paul Katz, Richard Aaron, Paul Watkins, Alan Harris, Fred Sherry, Clive Greensmith, Norman Fischer, Roger Tapping, and Muir Quartet.
