Matthew Pinder

Matthew Pinder, composition (Atlanta, GA), has been composing since 2017. Prior to this, he was an award-winning pianist and violist who gave frequent performances and was a featured soloist with orchestras on works such as Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. Matthew left high school after 11th grade to accept the prestigious John E. Brooks, S.J. Music Scholarship at College of the Holy Cross, where he is the only rising senior to have this award. In his sophomore year at Holy Cross, Matthew began studying composition with Osvaldo Golijov, with whom he continues to study. He has collaborated with artists from the Silk Road Ensemble, pianist and conductor Adam Golka, the Holy Cross Orchestra, and students from conservatories across the United States and abroad. Pinder is currently collaborating with Kevork Mourad, visual artist with the Silk Road Ensemble. He previously attended the DeCoda Skidmore Chamber Music Festival and Franklin Pond Chamber Music. In addition to returning to the Young Artists Program this summer, he will audit the June in Buffalo festival and will also attend the Valencia International Performance Academy, for which he is composing a work for the Brouwer Trio.
