Lillian Young

Lillian Young, double bass, (Austin, Texas), is currently working towards her master’s in bass performance at the University of Southern California, studying with David Allen Moore. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Boston University, studying music performance with Todd Seeber and composition with Ketty Nez and Martin Amlin. Her previous bass instructors include Tom Van Dyck and David Dawson. Lillian has attended summer festivals including the Lucerne Festival, New Music on the Point, Music Academy of the West, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Curtis Summerfest. As a bassist for ALEA III, Lillian has performed in Boston and at the Musa Hellenica Festival in Chios, Greece. Her original compositions have been performed at the Musa Hellenica Festival, by Sound Icon, members of the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, Music Academy of the West fellows, Boston University students, and the Westwood High School Symphony. Lillian is a two-time recipient of the Wainwright Prize at Boston University.
