Lara Albesano

Lara Albesano, viola (Venaria Reale, Italy), received her Diploma from the Turin Conservatory with ten honorable mentions, as a student of Sergio Lamberto. She subsequently received her M.M. cum laude in violin and viola performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, as a student of Ilya Grubert, Nobuko Imai, and Marjolein Dispa. Lara also attended the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid, with Nobuko Imai and Wenting Kang, where she received the prize for most outstanding student by Queen Sofia of Spain. Lara received 2nd prize at the Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition in Birmingham and has performed in masterclasses with Garth Knox, Tabea Zimmermann, Jurgen Kussmaul, Ettore Causa, Ula Ulijona, Antoine Tamestit, Hariolf Schlichtig, Bruno Giuranna, Simonide Braconi, Ilya Grubert, Vadim Brodsky, Uto Ughi, and Shlomo Mintz. Since September of 2019 Lara has been the violist of the Delian Quartett, which performs throughout Europe. Lara is a viola professor at Imuse (International Music School and Exchange) in Turin.
