Da Young (Rachel) Lim

Da Young (Rachel) Lim, violin (Incheon, South Korea), is an undergraduate student at New England Conservatory of Music. She attended Yewon Middle School for Arts in Korea before moving to the United States, where she played in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. She was a recipient of the Starling Scholarship and a concertmaster of the Youth Chamber Orchestra at Temple University’s Music Preparatory Center for Gifted Young Musicians. She was also a concertmaster of the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in 2019. During summers, Rachel has participated in the String Quartet Workshop at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the Meadowmount Summer School of Music, and Music@Menlo Young Performers Program as a scholarship recipient. She has performed in solo masterclasses given by Joseph Silverstein, Daniel Chong, and Jennifer Koh, and chamber music masterclasses given by Roberto Diaz, Orion Weiss, and members of the Horszowski Trio and the Muir, the Orion, and the Escher String Quartets. Rachel studied with Marc Rovetti of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and she currently studies with Soovin Kim. Previous Yellow Barn Young Artists Musician participant (2016-2018)
