Adam Karelin

Adam Karelin, composition (Haifa, Israel), studies composition with Brett Banducci. He has participated in the Young Musicians Foundation Young Composers Program, the Sunset ChamberFest Young Composers Workshop, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Associate Composer Program, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute under the direction of Martin Amlin and Justin Casinghino, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program under the direction of Andrew Norman. He completed a two-year fellowship as the composer-in-residence of the North Hollywood High School Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has performed as principal trombone with the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra under the direction of Russell Steinberg, and as principal trombone of his school’s symphonic band, symphony orchestra, and jazz band. This summer, he will attend the Idyllwild Summer Arts Festival as a trombonist in the Symphony Orchestra. As a conductor, Adam has directed the North Hollywood High School Royal Regiment, Brass Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra, and was awarded a two-year conducting internship with the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra. He will begin composition studies at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music in the fall of 2018.
