Yi-Mei Templeman

Yi-Mei Templeman, cello (Santa Monica, CA), has performed throughout Taiwan, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, and the United States at venues such as Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall, the Boston Public Library, Walt Disney Hall, MIT, and the Nokia Theater. She has spent past summers the Tanglewood Institute of Boston University, where she was principal cellist of the Young Artists Orchestra. She has also toured with the National Taiwan Youth Symphony and performed in the International Piatigorsky Festival. Yi-Mei’s former ensemble received first place at the Classics Alive Artist Management Competition, and currently she is the cellist of an exciting new piano trio, Trio Gaia. The members of Trio Gaia were the youngest finalists of the 2019 Plowman Competition, where they were awarded the Audience Prize. Yi-Mei has brought her cello playing to outreach events as a student ambassador for both the TED-Ed and Classics Alive Artists organizations. Her trio was also awarded an ensemble fellowship in Community Performance Partnerships at New England Conservatory, and has been invited to attend Carnegie Hall’s Audience Engagement Intensive this summer to further its goal of reaching diverse audiences. Yi-Mei is pursuing a B.M. with Lluís Claret at New England Conservatory of Music. Previous Yellow Barn Young Artists Musician participant (2018)
