Safiye Sahin

Safiye Sahin, piano (Brighton, UK), is currently studying with Claudio Martínez Mehner and Zoltán Fejérvári at Musik-Akademie Basel in pursuit of her Bachelor’s degree. Previously, she studied with Alasdair Beatson at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she held a Denis Matthews Memorial Trust Scholarship, and at the Royal College of Music London Junior Department where she studied with Prach Boondiskulchok and on violin with Ani Schnarch. In the last year she has received masterclasses from Andreas Staier, Aleksander Madžar at the Saline Royale Academy, and Georgy Tchaidze at New Millennium International Chamber Festival and Academy. Safiye has performed throughout the UK and Europe, most recently at Ulverston International Music Festival for Rachmaninoff’s 150th Anniversary. She won First Prize at the Denis Matthews Piano Prize 2023 for first and second year undergraduates and First Prize at ‘Jugend Musiziert’ 2020, and was also a finalist at the Wales International Piano Competition 2021. An avid chamber musician, Safiye has been to many MusicWorks Chamber Courses and MusicWorks Sundays at Kings Place London, where she receives coaching from Catherine Manson, James Boyd, Robert Max, and David Rabinovich.
