Mengwen Zhao, viola (Shenyang, China), has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in China, Hong Kong and the U.K. Mengwen earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying with Ivan Chan and Hongwei Cui. Mengwen has studied chamber music with Ivan Chan, Micheal Ma, Susie Mészáros, Masao Kawasaki, Meng-Chieh Liu, Peter Wiley, and Steven Tenebom. In addition to Yellow Barn, she has spent her summers at the Great Wall Music Festival in China, Lake District Summer Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West. She has performed with such artists as the Chillingirian Quartet, Chao-Liang Lin, Jian Wang and Peter Wiley. She currently studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Hsin-Yun Huang.
