Ariadna Chmelik

Ariadna Chmelik, cello (Basel, Switzerland), studied with Sol Gabetta and Ivan Monighetti at the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel, where she also took part in the School of Excellence program. She went on to graduate cum laude with her Masters at the Conservatorium Maastricht in Gustav Rivinius’ class. She has appeared regularly as a soloist and chamber musician on international stages in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, and Mexico. She is a three-time winner of Jeunesses Musicales Switzerland (2012, 2014, 2016), and in October 2022 she received second prize at the El Primer Palau competition. She has worked with teachers including Jens Peter Mainz, Arto Noras, Nicolas Altstaedt, and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and has performed chamber music with Rita Wagner and Ferenc Rados, among others. Ariadna is currently combining her solo and chamber career with her participation in concerts and masterclasses to help fund social projects. She plays on a Romeo Antoniazzi Violoncello built in 1918, generously granted by a private foundation in Switzerland.
