Yi-Mei Templeman

Yi-Mei Templeman, cello (Santa Monica, CA), has performed in concerts throughout Taiwan, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, and the United States, and has performed at Tanglewood’s Ozawa and Koussevitzky Halls, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Colburn’s Zipper Hall, and the Nokia Theater. She has attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and been principal cellist of Tanglewood’s Young Artists Orchestra. In addition, she has toured with the National Taiwan Youth Symphony Orchestra, and participated in the Music Academy of the West MERIT program. She has performed in masterclasses for Lynn Harrell, Norman Fischer, and John Walz, and performed in the International Piatigorsky Festival’s cello ensemble with Sol Gabetta, Truls Mørk, Mischa Maisky, Laurence Lesser, and Ralph Kirshbaum. She is currently a senior at Santa Monica High School, and has been principal cellist of her school’s symphony and chamber orchestras for three years. She studies with the LA Phil’s associate principal cellist Ben Hong. Yi-Mei is also an international student leader for TED-Ed, and participates in community outreach events with the TED and Classics Alive Artists organizations.
