Violaine Melançon

Violaine Melançon, violin (Baltimore, MD), was a founding member of the Naumburg Award-winning Peabody Trio, with which she performed internationally for 30 years. She serves on the violin and chamber music faculties of the Peabody Institute. She was a winner, with the Nisaika Quartet, of the Eighth International String Quartet Competition in Evian, France, and, with the Knopp-Melançon Duo, of the USIA Artistic Ambassadors Award. She is a recipient of the 1984 Prix d’Europe. She has collaborated with Leon Fleisher, Gilbert Kalish, Peter Frankl, Phyllis Bryn-Julson, and Roger Tapping. Violaine has recorded for the CRI, New World Records, and Artek labels. Previous Yellow Barn musician (since 1998)
