Lauren Siess

Lauren Siess, viola (Portland, OR), is currently pursuing her BM at the Juilliard School under Carol Rodland. Lauren has participated in and soloed with ensembles in the Pacific Northwest, including the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Portland Youth Philharmonic, and Oregon Sinfonietta. Former teachers include Brian Quincey, Helen Callus, and Paul Neubauer. An alumni of the Colburn Music Academy, Lauren was featured as a soloist with the Colburn Academy Virtuosi Orchestra and Colburn Chamber Orchestra, and served as principal viola of both orchestras. She was a semifinalist in the Klein International String Competition in San Francisco. She is a participant of the Perlman Music Program, with residencies including Shelter Island, NY; Sarasota, Florida; and Tel Aviv, Israel. Lauren attended Banff Centre’s Ensemble Evolution, and Chamber Music, programs, where she studied contemporary chamber music with the ICE, JACK Quartet, Imani Winds, and Miro Quartet. Lauren has premiered multiple works by Joel Phillip Friedman, and has worked with Joan Tower and Steve Reich. Lauren is a recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at the Juilliard School.
