Alexander Jorge Leon Donoso

Alexander Jorge Leon Donoso, composer (Quito, Ecuador), is an undergraduate student at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies composition with Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon and piano with Tony Caramia. He previously attended the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and Berklee School of Music. He is a 2013 National YoungArts Winner, and has received awards and commissions from the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador and Future History Films, among others. He has spent past summers at Tanglewood’s Young Artists’ Program, Brevard Music Festival, and Texas State International Piano Festival. His previous teachers include Whitman Brown, Kevin Puts, Robert Aldridge, and Martin Amlin. Alex has participated in masterclasses with Christopher Theofanidis, Michael Gandolfi, John Harbison, and David Ludwig. After this year’s Young Artists Program, Alex will be attending the Atlantic Music Festival. Past YAP musician (2012)
