Misha Swersey

Misha Swersey, composition (New York, NY), has a compositional style that is a unique blend of contemporary classical music and other genres ranging from jazz to rock. His works have been performed at venues across the country, from the Walt Disney Theatre in Orlando to Le Poisson Rouge in downtown Manhattan. Musicians from internationally recognized ensembles such as The Metropolis Ensemble have performed his works, as well as musicians from The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and the Orlando Philharmonic. In 2019, Swersey was named a winner of the National Young Composers Challenge for his "Woodwind Quintet", and has additionally received recognition from the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. One of his most memorable experiences was attending the Young Artists Composition Program at Boston University Tanglewood Institute in the summer of 2019, where his new work "Perpetual Motion" was premiered and his orchestral work "Distanced Away" was read by the Young Artists Orchestra. He is currently pursuing a BM in composition, studying with Andrew Norman at The Juilliard School.
