Cheng Io Lo

Cheng Io Lo, violin (Macau), began her studies at the Macau Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Hao Wang. A winner of various awards in the Macau Young Musicians Competition, including first prize of the Advanced and Concerto categories, Cheng Io received the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize in 2014, which granted her a scholarship to study music abroad. Thereafter, she became a student in the Pre-College Division of the Manhattan School of Music, where she served as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra during the 2016-17 school year. A student of Nicholas Mann, she is a recipient of the Patinka Kopec Pre-College Violin Scholarship. She is also a senior at the Professional Children’s School. In 2019, Cheng Io was named a National YoungArts Winner, and her quartet at the Manhattan School of Music won the Pre-College Chamber Music Competition. She has performed as a soloist with the Macau Orchestra and was invited as a guest performer to the 31st Macau International Music Festival. In past summers, Cheng Io participated in the Heifetz International Music Institute, the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
