PARKER QUARTET RESIDENCY The Parker Quartet, a Yellow Barn alumni participant ensemble-in-residence, will spend a week at Yellow Barn for rehearsals, coachings with Yellow Barn faculty and workshops with Greenwood School students on Yellow Barn's Greenwood School campus.

October 6, 2009 8:00 pm - $18 Centre Congregational Church Brattleboro, Vermont The Program: Beethoven String Quartet No. 3 in D major, Op. 18 Bartók Quartet for Strings No. 1 in A minor, Op. 7/Sz40 Mendelssohn String Quartet in A minor, Op. 13 Quartet Biography: Just three months after winning the 2005 Concert Artists Guild Competition, the Quartet captured First Prize and the Mozart Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, sparking international acclaim. Their engagements have included performances in Lincoln Center's Great Performers Series, the Wolf Trap Discovery Series and Ravinia's Rising Stars Series, and concerts at Jordan Hall and the Gardner Museum in Boston, and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Dedicated to passing on the great chamber music tradition, the Parker Quartet spends a great deal of time each year working with young musicians through educational residency activities. They were the participant ensemble-in-residence at Yellow Barn in 2004-2005, and guest artists in 2007. |
