2010 YOUNG ARTISTS PROGRAM June 16 – July 3, 2010 Putney, Vermont
For Outstanding Musicians, Ages 13-19 THE PROGRAM Yellow Barn’s Young Artists Program brings together 28 advanced young musicians, instrumentalists and composers from across the country, for a rigorous and exciting 18-day chamber music workshop that includes intensive study and three public performances. The program was founded in 1998 by Seth Knopp, Artistic Director of Yellow Barn Music School & Festival. He co-directs the Program with cellist Mimi Hwang.
The challenging, supportive learning environment features inspiring coaching, private lessons, performance and master classes, theory classes, rehearsal and practice time, and a range of recreational activities. Each instrumentalist studies three major chamber works, with repertoire assigned in advance. With a student to faculty ratio of about 3:1, all participants receive in-depth, personal attention from a dedicated faculty of artist/teachers from Yellow Barn. Composers enjoy individual and group instruction, opportunities to work closely with performers, and high-caliber performances and recordings of their music.
Young Artists Program alumni have gone on to major conservatories and colleges, including the Juilliard and Eastman Schools of Music, New England Conservatory, Curtis, Rice University, and Peabody Conservatory, among others.
