Application Instructions

Fees

Application Fee: $120 (non-refundable and due with application)
All participants receive a full scholarship to cover tuition, room, and board.

Auditions

Ensembles should be full-time groups who have been playing together for a minimum of one year, and who have the shared desire to establish themselves as a lasting entity. (If you are applying as an individual, please use our Application for Individual Musicians.) Live auditions are strongly recommended. Only in cases where live auditions are impossible, applicants may audition with unedited DVDs or video files. CDs will not be accepted. Unfortunately, Yellow Barn is not able to return audition materials.

Audition Requirements

Prepare two whole contrasting works in their entirety that make very different demands on you as an ensemble. Auditions are typically 30 minutes in length but may vary from audition to audition. Questions regarding audition repertoire are welcome.

Please submit the following items with your application. Please include all information. We accept .doc, .docx, .pdf filetypes. Please limit file uploads to 2MB.

Your application cannot be saved and we will not receive any of your information until you click "Submit". 

Explain what your ensemble hopes to accomplish during a summer at Yellow Barn. Please limit to one page.
Your ensemble's most up-to-date list of chamber music studied and/or performed, as well as a list of chamber music works that you would especially like to play during the 2013 Yellow Barn festival. Label each category clearly and include your name. (We cannot promise to fulfill your wishes, but will attempt to do so to the extent possible.)
Please submit two letters of recommendation from teachers who know your ensemble's playing well. You may choose to submit them here or have your teachers send them to lisa@yellowbarn.org.
Everyone in the ensemble must submit his/her individual résumé.

2013 Audition Request

For recorded auditions only: Current video file(s) of you performing your audition pieces. If submitting DVDs, please label with your name, instrument, audition repertoire, and contact information, and send to Yellow Barn c/o Lisa Kang, Production Manager, PO Box 1513, Baltimore, MD 21203. 

Payment

After you click on submit you will be asked to pay your $120 application fee by PayPal. You may pay with a PayPal account or with a credit card.
