Sam Seyong Um

Sam Seyong Um, percussion (Derwood, MD), has performed as soloist with the Yale Philharmonia, under the direction of Maestro Oundjian, Yale Band, Eastman Graduate Orchestra, and Walter Johnson Wind Ensemble. In March 2019, Sam will premiere Christopher Theofanidis’ Percussion Concerto with the Oregon Symphony. He has given lectures, clinics, and lessons at the Peabody Conservatory, Vanderbilt University, the Eastman School of Music Summer at Eastman, and Tennessee Tech University. Sam is a member of the Robert van Sice Percussion Collective. Sam has performed in Mexico, Costa Rica, and across the United States. Sam will begin his DMA at the Peabody Conservatory this coming semester. Sam earned his MM and MMA at the Yale School of Music, and BM at the Eastman School of Music. Sam is a Vic Firth artist.
