Oriana Hawley

Oriana Hawley, viola (New York, NY), is a senior at the Special Music School High School in New York City, and will attend Columbia University starting fall 2021. Oriana has spent their life participating in multiple musical groups/programs such as Face The Music NYC, Greenwood Music Camp, and Omaha Area Youth Orchestras, and has regularly organized solo and chamber music recitals/concerts around the city. Since 2018, Oriana has performed many times in Merkin Hall and at the Kaufman Center, as well as at Roulette in Brooklyn and National Sawdust. During the COVID-19 quarantine, Oriana has participated in various virtual and in-person projects with composer Lisa Bielawa including Broadcast From Home, premiere album Blueprints I, Guggenheim Museum’s Works & Process, Voter’s Broadcast, and the Kaufman Center’s Storefront Concerts, as well as projects with peer musicians and composers. In October 2020, Oriana performed in a 12-hour multi-disciplinary project with The Afield called X-Agent: Destroy Monster Regimes at Residency Unlimited in Brooklyn. Oriana is also editor and founder of Gold Graffiti Quarantine, an online literary/arts journal for young artists and thinkers founded in March 2020. During their free time, Oriana enjoys writing, traveling, collaborating on new projects, walking, and yoga.
