Oriana Hawley

Oriana Hawley, viola (New York, NY), is a second year student in the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange Program, where she majors in Viola Performance and Music and concentrates in English. Oriana has performed with many groups in NYC such as the Westside Chamber Players, Protestra, Regina Opera Company, Face The Music, Columbia University Orchestra, chamber music groups at Juilliard, composer Lisa Bielawa’s performance ensembles, and other contemporary/traditional ensembles. During the summers, Oriana has attended programs including the Yellow Barn Young Artists Program, Kinhaven Young Artists Seminar, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, and Greenwood Music Camp. In the summer of 2022, she interned at the Northampton Community Music Center, and has continued to teach and mentor since. During her high school years at the Special Music School High School, Oriana performed in various ensembles with the Kaufman Music Center and Face The Music at many venues around the city, including Merkin Hall, National Opera Center, and National Sawdust. During the COVID-19 2020-2021 quarantine, Oriana sang and played in Lisa Bielawa’s projects Broadcast From Home, premiere album Blueprints I, the Guggenheim Museum’s Works & Process, Voter’s Broadcast, and the Kaufman Center’s Storefront Concerts. Oriana also participates in the vocal jazz program at Columbia, and studies viola with Carol Rodland at Juilliard. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2021, 2022)
