Nathaniel Abreu

Nathaniel Abreu, cello (Somerville, MA), attends the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School, where he studies with Sam Ou. Nathaniel won First Place in the Concord Orchestra Ehlers Young Artist Concerto Competition and the New England Conservatory Prep Concerto Competition. His chamber music groups were featured in three Chamber Music Showcase Gala Concerts in Jordan Hall. In addition, he performs jazz and klezmer music, and has studied jazz improvisation with Eyran Katsenelenbogen and performed in a klezmer band coached by Jim Guttmann. He has performed in masterclasses with the Omer String Quartet, Triple Helix Piano Trio, and with cellist Owen Young of the BSO. Nathaniel participated in the String Quartet Workshop and the Young Artists Orchestra programs at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, as well as the Bowdoin International Music Festival and Encore-Coda Music Camp.
