Mira Williams

Mira Williams, viola (Chicago, IL), currently studies with Kim Kashkashian at New England Conservatory. Her quartet Highland Street, is a 2017/2018 NEC Honors Ensemble. She was twice awarded second place at the Sphinx Competition (junior division), and she was a semifinalist in the Sphinx Competition senior division. With her string quartets Okemo, Lumière, and Vox, she won gold medals and additional prizes in the Fischoff, St. Paul National String Quartet Competition, the Society of American Musicians, Midwest Young Artists, Merit School of Music, and Rembrandt Chamber Players competitions. She is a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award recipient and has performed on NPR’s From the Top. She has participated in masterclasses with Heidi Castleman, Jeffrey Irvine, Roberto Díaz, and Steven Tenenbom. Mira was in a family trio called SugarStrings alongside her cousins, performing for LaRabida Children’s Hospital, the Cradle, Haiti relief fundraisers, Hull House/Catholic Charities, and functions for the City of Chicago.
