Ian Maloney

Ian Maloney, cello (Hackensack, NJ), attends Manhattan School of Music (MSM) Pre-College where he studies with Madeleine Golz and Philippe Muller and is the recipient of the Dorothy Hales Gary Scholarship. At MSM, Ian won first place in both the concerto and chamber music competitions. In addition, he is a National YoungArts Foundation winner and has been featured on WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase, NPR’s “From the Top”, and in music videos with Brooklyn’s Project Trio and Joshua Bell. Ian's award-winning Claremont piano trio was invited to the Lotos Club in NYC as part of From the Top's "Behind the Mic" series and will give a premiere performance of a new work at the Luna Composition Lab program at Merkin Concert Hall. Ian has performed in masterclasses for Carter Brey, Paul Katz, Clive Greensmith, David Finckel, and Colin Carr. Ian has attended the Young Performers Program of Music@Menlo, Greenwood Music Camp, and later this summer will attend the Aspen Music Festival, studying with Richard Aaron. He also studies trumpet with Brad Siroky and is a member of MSM's brass ensemble. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2019)
