Federico Strand Ramirez

Federico Strand Ramirez, cello (San Francisco, CA), began his cello studies at the age of 11 in his public middle school, and later started private instruction with cellist Louella Hasbun. Federico is an avid chamber musician and has had the opportunity to work with members of the Alexander, Baumer, Juilliard, St. Petersburg, Miró, Pacifica, Kronos, Telegraph, St. Lawrence, Takács, and Borromeo string quartets, as well as acclaimed artists David Requiro and Robert deMaine. He was a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra in their 2014-2015 season and traveled with the orchestra on their 2015 European Tour. This included concerts at the Milan Conservatory, Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, Ingolstadt Festival Auditorium, Berlin Philharmonie, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and Prague Smetana Hall. Federico has attended summer programs at the Crowden Chamber Music Workshop, Summer Music West, Aria International Summer Academy, Dominican Chamber Music Camp, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, where he will return later this summer to study with Jeffrey Zeigler. Federico is currently pursuing his B.M. at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Jean-Michel Fonteneau. Past Yellow Barn Young Artists Program participant (Summer 2016).
