Emely Phelps

Emely Phelps, piano (Frederick, MD), enjoys a multifaceted career as a chamber musician, soloist, and teacher. Currently a D.M.A. Candidate at Stony Brook University, where she studies with Christina Dahl, Emely performs frequently as a collaborator and as a member of the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, coaches undergraduate chamber music, and serves as a teaching assistant in the music history department. As a soloist, Emely presented recitals in Boston and New York this year, and has previously made concerto appearances with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic. From 2008-2016, Emely was the pianist of Trio Cleonice, with whom she performed in more than 15 states, toured Europe, and won second prize at the Schoenfeld International String Competition. The group also served as the Graduate Piano Trio-in-Residence at New England Conservatory from 2011-2014, during which time Emely studied with Vivian Weilerstein, receiving a G.D. in chamber music. Emely also holds a B.M. and M.M. from The Juilliard School, where she was a student of Julian Martin. Emely is thrilled to be returning for her fourth summer at Yellow Barn and her second summer as a teacher at the Yellow Barn Young Artists Program. Past Yellow Barn musician (Summer 2014-2016).
