Eli Greenhoe

Eli Greenhoe, composition (Brooklyn, NY), is a composer, instrumentalist, and singer currently living in the far off land of Manhattan Island. His music has been read and performed by the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, the New York Youth Symphony, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Vento Chiaro Wind Quintet, and members of ensemble loadbang, among others. His music has been featured at such venues as Symphony Space, the Yellow Barn's Big Barn, Manhattan School of Music’s Greenfield Hall, Brooklyn Museum's Cantor Auditorium, and Rochester, NY's Kilbourn Hall. Eli has twice been a finalist in ASCAP’s Morton Gould Young Composer awards and in 2012 was awarded the Boosey and Hawkes Young Composer Award (honoring Aaron Copland). Additionally, he has attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Yellow Barn Festival’s Young Artist Program. An active performer, he currently sings tenor in Kent Tritle’s acclaimed chamber choir at Manhattan School of Music and studies piano with Dr. Marjean Olson. Eli is currently a third year undergraduate at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Dr. Reiko Fueting. Past teachers and mentors include Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, James Bassi, David Shohl, and Robert Singley. Eli has also participated in lessons or masterclasses with Christopher Theofanidis, Caroline Shaw, Steve Mackey, Robert Morris, David Liptak, and Marti Epstein. Recent and upcoming projects in the 2014/2015 season include a piece for solo trombone for loadbang trombonist Will Lang, a violin sonata for violinist Sarah-Hadley Yakir, a new piece for the Manhattan School of Music Symphony orchestra, and a commission from the conductor Nicholas DeMaison and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Orchestra and Chorus. Past YAP musician (2014)
