Cheng Io Lo

Cheng Io Lo, violin (Macau), is currently a sophomore at the Columbia/Juilliard Exchange studying with Daniel Phillips. She began her studies at the Macau Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Hao Wang. A winner of various awards in the Macau Young Musicians Competition, Cheng Io has soloed with the Macau Orchestra and received the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize in 2014, which granted her a scholarship to study music abroad. She became a student of Nicholas Mann in the Pre-College Division of the Manhattan School of Music, where she served as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra and was the recipient of the Patinka Kopec Pre-College Violin Scholarship. Cheng Io was named a National YoungArts Winner, and with her quartet she won the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Chamber Music Competition and was featured on NPR’s From the Top. Previous Young Artists Program participant (2019)
