Barbara Whitney

Barbara Whitney (South Hamilton, MA), whose career spans a variety of disciplines, focuses her work primarily on performance, dramaturgy, and education. From 1997 to 2008 she toured internationally throughout North America, Europe and Asia with multiple companies, including Sandglass Theater and Blair Thomas & Company, performing at the International World Festival of Puppetry in Charleville-Mezieres, France, the O'Neill Theater Center, the Henson International Festival, and regional and international Puppeteers of America and UNIMA Festivals, among others. She is Co-Artistic Director of Company of Strangers, an UNIMA award winning multi-arts performance ensemble and former Artists-in-Residence at the Hall Farm Center for Arts and Education. She has toured extensively as a production manager with Grammy award-winning new music ensemble, eighth blackbird. As a production dramaturg she has worked with such notable directors as Anne Bogart, Robert Woodruff, Dominique Serrand, and Marcus Stern. She currently is Chair of the Theater Department at Cambridge School of Weston. She received her MFA from the Institute for Advanced Theater Training (ART/ MXAT) at Harvard University.
