Ashley Tsai

Ashley Tsai, violin (Calgary, Canada), studies with Henry Gronnier at the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angeles. Making her first orchestral debut at the age of thirteen, she won first place in the strings category of the 2022 Pasadena Showcase House Competition. Her other honors include being named the 2021 state winner of the Music Teacher’s National Association Competition, the winner of the 2020 Rotary Calgary Concerto Competition, and earning a second prize at the 2019 Canadian Music Competition. Ashley has been awarded Provincial and National Gold Medals from Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music. She is also the recipient of many scholarships awards, including the Kohl Scholar Award, the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artists Award, the Harold Saklofske Scholarship, and the Taras Gabora Prize for Outstanding Performances. Ashley is an avid chamber musician, and is a concertmaster of the 2022 Colburn Academy Virtuosi. She has collaborated with many esteemed musicians, most recently pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. She is scheduled to perform with the Redlands Bowl Symphony and the Calgary Civic Symphony in June 2022.
