Alice Chenyang Xu

Alice Chenyang Xu, piano (Chengdu, China), has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, the US, Canada, and throughout China. Notable concerts include performances at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Auditorium Theatre, Corbett Auditorium in Cincinnati, Leipzig Hochshule Musik Hall, and New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. She has attended the International Mendelssohn Academy in Germany and festivals in Canada and America. Alice was a recipient of the Dorothy Hinton-Congleton Memorial Presidential Scholarship, second prize-winner of the 10th Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, third prize-winner of the 2nd Seiler International Piano Competition in Germany, and the recipient of a Yamaha Scholarship. She received her BM from the Curtis Institute of Music and Roosevelt University, and MM from New England Conservatory under Wha-Kyung Byun and Russell Sherman. She is currently pursuing her DMA at NEC with Vivian Hornik Weilerstein. Alice teaches at the Tufts University Community Music Program. Previous Yellow Barn musician (2018)
