Agata Sorotokin

Agata Sorotokin, piano (San Jose, CA), is a piano student of Prof. Melvin Chen at the Yale School of Music and has previously studied with John McCarthy in the Pre-College Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has participated in the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and Institute for five seasons and was selected for the inaugural Finckel-Wu Han Chamber Music Studio program at the Aspen Music Festival. Agata has performed in master classes for Leon Fleisher, Gilbert Kalish, Anne-Marie McDermott, Jon Kimura Parker, Inon Barnatan, and the Pacifica Quartet. Agata has appeared on NPR’s From the Top as a soloist and chamber music artist, sharing her passion for the music of our time. She made her Davies Symphony Hall solo debut performing Prokofiev’s "Piano Concerto No. 3" in the sold-out SFSYO season opening concert. In 2015, she served as the Assistant Conductor to Maestro Donato Cabrera. Currently pursuing the literature major at Yale, Agata also studies theory and composition in the Department of Music. She frequently conducts groups on campus, putting together a fully staged production of Stravinsky’s "The Soldier’s Tale" and Bach’s "Kaffeekantate" earlier this year. Past Yellow Barn Young Artists Program participant (Summer 2016).
