RECENT YELLOW BARN ALUMNI Francesca Andregg, violin Francesca Anderegg, violin (New York, NY), made her New York debut in 2007 with the Juilliard Orchestra. She has performed with Itzhak Perlman and the Perlman Music Program, and at Weill Recital Hall as a participant in Pamela and Claude Frank's Carnegie Hall Professional Training Workshop. She has participated in the Lucerne Festival Academy, the Perlman Music Program and at Tanglewood. She graduated from Harvard University in 2005, and is currently a C.V. Ian Antonio, percussion Ian Antonio (Loudonville, NY), is a member of Yarn/Wire, Zs, the WetInk Ensemble, and the Theatre of a Two-Headed Calf. He also frequently performs with the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Argento Chamber Ensemble, the S.E.M. Ensemble and the Albany Symphony. He is a former Tanglewood participant. Emmanuelle Beaulieu Bergeron, cello Emmanuelle Beaulieu Bergeron, cello (Montréal, Québec, Canada), won the Special Jury Prize in the Prix d'Europe Competition and a silver medal in the Fischoff Competition. She has played with the Kailas String Quartet and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and soloed with the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa.Emmanuelle has attended the Aspen, Tanglewood and Sarasota festivals. She joined the Toronto Symphony in Fall 2009. She was faculty for the Yellow Barn's Young Artists Program, 2008 and 2009. She holds Masters degrees from Juilliard and from Rice University. Hamilton Berry, cello Hamilton Berry, cello (Nashville, Tn.), has performed with the Macon Symphony Orchestra. As a participant in Carnegie Hall's Porous Borders of Music workshop, he performed Edgar Meyer's Cello-Bass Duo with the composer in Zankel Hall. A former member of the Cumberland Trio, in 2004 he won First Prize at the Columbia University Bach Society Concerto Competition. Festival appearances have included Killington, Sarasota, and Sewanee. Claire Bryant, cello Claire Bryant, cello (Camden, S.C.), has appeared as guest soloist with orchestras including the Kuopion Orchestieri of Finland, the National Symphony of Honduras, and the South Carolina Philharmonic. She is a founding member of the Tetras String Quartet and the founder, producer, and artistic director of With Strings Attached. She recently toured the U.S. and Japan with tap-dancer Savion Glover and performed in Carnegie's Zankel Hall as part of the Meredith Monk Workshop. Previously he won the 2005 National Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, first prize at the 2006 Corpus Christi International Competition,and was laureate of the 2006 Gina Bachauer Competition at Juilliard. He has performed in Israel, Turkey, and across North America, and was recently featured on WQXR-New York's McGraw-Hill Young Artists Showcase. Anna Burden, cello Anna Burden, cello (Chicago, Ill.), was principal cellist of the New York String Orchestra Seminar in 2007 and has appeared as soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra, Northwestern University Orchestra, and Oak Park Symphony Orchestra. She is a winner of the Juilliard and Northwestern University Concerto Competitions and has been awarded prizes at the Stulberg International Strings Competition and WAMSC Young Artist Competition. In 2007 she was a guest artist with the American String Quartet and performed with Itzhak Perlman at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is the recipient of numerous scholarships, fellowships and awards and has been a soloist with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Young Musicians Forum, and the Carson City Symphony Orchestra. Elissa Cassini, violin Elissa Cassini, violin (Bouchemaine, France), has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Next season she will premiere a concerto written for her by Nicolas Bacri, S.A.C.E.M's 2006 Grand Prize winning composer. She hasperformed with Pierre Boulez, William Christie, Ivry Gitlis, Wynton Marsalis, and Sting as well as with ensembles including the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Argento New Music Project and the Sonora Quartet. Ga Hyun Cho, violin Ga Hyun Cho, violin (Goyangshi, Korea), has appeared as a soloist with the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra and the Germany Mannheim University Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, among others. She took second place in the Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in 2006 and is the winner of eight other national and international competitions including the Seoul National Symphony Competition. Sookkyung Cho, piano Sookkyung Cho, piano (Baltimore, MD), has performed at Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall, and the Sarasota Opera House. She is a recipient of the John Erskine Prize at Juilliard, and won the Grace Clagett Ranney Prize in Chamber Music at Peabody, as well as prizes at the Harrison Winter Piano Competition and the International Beethoven Piano Sonata Competition. Sookkyung has been heard at the Norfolk, Sarasota, Bowdoin, and Orford festivals. Sookkyung is currently enrolled in the DMA program at Juilliard as a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow. She won first prize as a soloist and a chamber musician in the Calgary Kiwanis Festival, the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, the Calgary Concerto Competition, and the Canadian Music Competition. Estelle has participated in Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary, Banff Centre, Great Mountains Music Festival in Korea and the PMF String Quartet Course in Japan. Jennifer Curtis, violin Jennifer Curtis, violin ( Jamaica Plain, MA), has won the Artists International's 2009 outstanding alumni award, the Astral Artists 2006 National Auditions, the Millka/Astral grand prize for violin and the Juilliard Concerto Competition. She has appeared as soloist with the Simón Bolívar Orchestra in Venezuela and will give the American premiere of George Enescu's Fantasie Concertante in New York nextJanuary. Jennifer is the founder of Tres Americas Project, a member of the celebrated new music group ICE, plays mandolin, and is a composer. She holds a Masters degree from Juilliard. Owen Dalby, violin Owen Dalby, violin (Astoria, NY), is currently a fellow at The Academy, a program of Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School and the Weill Music Institute. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Hindemith Ensemble, a founding member of the Dalby-Rabin Duo and was the concertmaster and soloist for the Yale Symphony Orchestra in 2005-2006. He is a member of the New Haven Symphony and has been principal cellist of the Curtis Symphony and the Juilliard Orchestra, participating in its tour of China in 2008. He has performed at the summer music festivals at Taos, Tanglewood, and Aspen. With a Masters from Juilliard, he will begin the DMA program at the CUNY Graduate Center this fall. Mariko Hara, viola Mariko Hara, viola (Tokyo, Japan), was a second place winner of the 13th International Brahms Competition, and first place winner of the fifth Toshiya-Eto Competition. She has performed with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra de Geneva. As a member of the Jupiter Quartet Japan, she has concertized across Japan, the U.S. and Switzerland. She toured Japan with her Latin percussion group, "Marimba Tropicana," broadcast live on NHK-radio, and released two recordings on Respect Records.
